A new baby will soon be arriving for Patrick M. Villano School teacher Christina Rivel. She is expecting a baby boy. As the due date gets closer, her students have been discussing possible names for the baby. The question of what name to choose has created a debate among the students.
“Some top names at school have been Cameron, Asher, and Christian. These are the names I’ve heard the most from my students,” Rivel said.
Meantime, she and her husband have been thinking of some names on their own.
“Some top boy names I have at home are Cooper, Mason, and Chase. I really like names that start with the letter C since my name also starts with the letter C,” Rivel said.
When asked to choose between Christian and Cameron, Rivel shared her thoughts.
“If I had to choose between Christian and Cameron, I would choose Cameron because Christian is very close to my first name, which is Christina. I also like that Cameron can be shortened to Cam,” she explained.
According to the Social Security Administration’s website, the top baby boy names of 2026 include Liam, Noah, Theodore, Oliver, James, Henry, Mateo, Elijah, Lucas, and William.
“I think Mrs. Rivel should name her baby Christian because it is similar to her name. Another good name could be Mark,” Kristi Allen, a fifth-grader, said.
No matter what the name, Allen said she’s looking forward to meeting Rivel’s baby soon. Rivel’s due date is in the summer, soon after school ends for the year.
