Pros and cons of siblings

Some students say their brothers or sisters can be kind of irritating sometimes, but most of them agree that having a sibling is also really special, because it’s like having a friend in your family who you can talk to and be with your whole life.

What’s it like to have siblings? At Patrick M. Villano School, students are sharing what it’s like to have brothers and sisters, whether they are older or younger. One student, Hailey Ciavaglia, talks about her experience having two little sisters and what that looks like in her family.

“My favorite part of having sisters is that they’re really fun  sometimes, and they can be really creative. My least favorite part of having sisters is that they’re really annoying, and when I have friends over they like to take up all my space and they don’t leave me alone,” Ciavaglia, a fifth-grader, said.

Maya Pineda, a fifth-grader, has a brother named Max. He is eight-years-old and in third grade at Memorial School.

“Sometimes having a sibling can be the best thing in the world, like they’re always there for you … and if you have a younger sibling they really look up to you, but sometimes it can be the worst thing in the world because sometimes it can be annoying,” Pineda explained.

Pineda added that the good outweighs the bad.

“The best thing about having a sibling is knowing someone’s always going to be there for you … and you know someone always has your back, and you don’t have to feel alone if you’re sad or something,’’ she said.

“Carter Stolfe is also a fifth grader. He has an older sister in eighth grade named Penny.

“My favorite part of having a sibling is that she is able to teach me about what is stored ahead for my future in school. My least favorite part of having a sibling is that they can be very annoying at some times,” Stolfe said.
