A new “addition” is heading to Math teacher Christina Rivel’s family this year. She and her husband, Ryan, are expecting their first child in late June.
“I do not know the names for the baby yet, but I’m taking suggestions,” Rivel said. So far, her students have suggested the names Joshua, Asher, Camyrn, and Mathew. Rivel knows she is having a boy.
“I’m very excited especially because this is my first baby,” Rivel said. “It was really exciting telling my class, but my heart was racing because I was also a little nervous.”
Her due date is June 30, 2026. Valentina Palladino, a fifth grader in Rivel ‘s class, said she shares in her teacher’s excitement.
“I feel really happy for her because it’s a boy and our class has so many names for her to choose from,” Palladino said. She added Joseph, Dylan, Nico, and Dominic to the growing list of student sugegstions from her class.
Emma Marie Tuazon, another fith grader, said her class is also thrilled for Rivel.
“So hearing the news, I freaked out! I just started screaming because I was just so excited for her, and I just went up to her and just hugged her!” Tuazon said.
Rivel broke the news to her students with a word puzzle. The answer to the puzzle was, “Mrs. Rivel’s having a baby boy!”
