As warmer weather arrives and flowers begin to bloom, many students are spending more time outside during the spring season. While some students enjoy outdoor activities and sports, others say spring allergies and insects can make the season less enjoyable.

“I’m excited for spring because there’s more sports and there’s more playing outside,” Ava Finnerty said. “I also like that you can do outside activities more even though allergies get bad.”

Many students, like Finnerty, participate in spring sports and outdoor activities such as soccer, football, and baseball. Kristi Allen shared her thoughts about the season.

“I feel spring is a good time around the year because you get to go outside more, and I love it because it won’t be freezing cold like you have to wear a jacket cold but still can get to go to the park more often and do more fun stuff outside if you can, and you can go inside the cool and refreshing malls to relax after the heat,” Allen said.

Allen also described how allergies affect her during the spring season.

“I don’t really have a major spring allergy, but I only have like a tiny bit of a pollen allergy that doesn’t really stop me, for having fun,” she said.

Others don’t enjoy spring as much as Allen.

“I am going to be honest with you. Spring is a total snoozefest. Terrible! All the bees buzzing around; the mosquitoes biting you. It’s horrible. It’s just a horrible waste of time,” Owen Grompone said. “We should have more winter, fall, maybe more summer vacation out of all the seasons. I hate spring the most.”

Students have different opinions about spring, but many agree that warmer weather gives people more opportunities to spend time outside with friends and family.
