Many people believe it’s important to remember that Thanksgiving isn’t about the food. It’s about the people or pets you care about. Students at Patrick M. Villano School, such as fifth-grader Molly Lucas, are thankful for many things.
“I’m thankful for my family because they take care of me. I show my love by being nice to my siblings and cleaning up after myself,” Lucas said. “My family is nice to me because they cook me dinner every night and give me everything that I need.”
Lucas has a family of five, with her mom, her dad, her older sister, and her younger brother. Lucas loves spending time with her family. Fifth-grader Hailey Ciavaglia explains why she’s grateful for oxygen.
“I’m thankful for oxygen because it helps everybody breathe and it keeps us alive,” Ciavaglia said. “I show my thanks for oxygen by taking care of trees because oxygen comes from trees.”
Ciavaglia said that without oxygen, humans couldn’t breathe. She thinks that we should take care of trees because they give us oxygen. Ciavaglia is concerned about climate change, deforestation, and littering because she said those all threaten the environment.
