This is the first month of after school clubs at Patrick M. Villano School, and Divide and Conquer is one of them. Divide and Conquer is a math and puzzle club run by Christine Rivel, a fifth-grade Math and Science teacher.

“My hope during clubs this year is to get students’ Math minds moving and thinking in ways that will challenge them,” Rivel said.

She describes the club as a wonderful opportunity to work collaboratively with others and strengthen your mind.

“Each activity takes a different amount of time to set up. Some math challenges that we complete together in clubs require a lot of materials. Activities like that usually take me an hour to plan and prepare,” Rivel added.

“I absolutely love doing clubs. It is so fun to get all grades levels within Villano School together in order to accomplish each challenge. Plus, it’s always exciting seeing old students,” Rivel said.
