Mickey Mouse is a known and loved cartoon character who just turned 95 years old on November 18. According to an online source, Mickey Mouse was made by Walt Disney and his best friend Ub Iwerks. For many students at Patrick M. Villano School, Mickey Mouse is a favorite character and is featured at amusement parks around the world.

“I’ve liked Mickey Mouse since forever, and I’m excited for Mickey’s birthday because Disney has a lot of happiness and joy, and it’s also fun to go to Disney World,” Ryan Izzo, a fifth-grader. said.

Izzo recalls watching shows with Mickey Mouse, and he has a favorite.

“My favorite show is Steamboat Willie,” Izzo said. Fellow fifth-grader, Luca Carvalho, also has a favorite.

“My favorite Mickey Mouse show would be Mickey Mouse Clubhouse because it’s a classic,” Carvalho stated.

Walt Disney directed Mickey Mouse shows and voiced the character of Mickey Mouse. His first words were “Hot Dogs!” in 1929. In 1930, he retired from directing and only provided the mouse’s voice. According to an online encyclopedia, Disney died in 1966, but his character was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The mouse was the first cartoon character ever to get a star. His star is located at 6925 Hollywood Boulevard near Grauman’s Chinese Theater.

“I’m excited for Mickey’s Birthday because Mickey Mouse is a very popular character and he’s a big part of Disney’s history,” Caden Castillo said. The fifth-grader also watched Mickey Mouse shows. “My favorite Mickey Mouse TV show is Mickey Mouse ClubHouse, and I’ve been to Disney, but also Epcot and Animal Kingdom.”

Aneesa Mathew, another fith-grader, said her favorite Mickey show is probably Mickey and Friends because she likes the stories and the fact that it is a colorful cartoon.

“Mickey has been a big part of me since I was about one-year-old because I thought he was funny, cool, and interesting,” Mathew explains. “One of the reasons I’m excited for Mickey’s 95th birthday is because he is an amazing creation and started from a little sketch book and turned into one of the most popular Disney characters the world has ever seen,” Mathew states.

Happy birthday Mickey Mouse!
