Emerson, New Jersey, is a “sporty” town, and one popular sport students is play is soccer. Some girls play not just recreational soccer but also play for the Emerson Eagles Soccer Club. The club offers more competitive play against girls from other towns in Bergen County. Juliette Rose Connolly is one of 12 girls on the club team.

“Soccer was the first sport that I played which is why it really means a lot to me,”  Connolly said.

According to the club’s website, playing for the team is a year long commitment. Connolly doesn’t mind spending more time on the field.

“I want to become a better soccer player, so when I get older I will be really good at it!” she explained.

Kylie Mulhern also plays club soccer.

“I play soccer because I want to be strong and athletic for any other sports,” Mulhern said.

Mulhern plays basketball and softball, so she said it makes sense to also play soccer since that includes a lot of running and plenty of  exercise.

“Soccer is a really fun sport to play,” Hailey Carcich, a goalie and defender, said.

Like her teammates, Carcich plays club soccer because she enjoys playing soccer, and she wants to be on the high school soccer team when she is older.

“I can see myself staying on travel soccer until it ends,” Connolly said. “ I enjoy learning how to play!”
