Four high school senior soccer captains will graduate this spring after leading Emerson’s teams to successful seasons. Varsity players Kylie Grompone, Ally Palladio, Ethan Amaral, and Angel Ponce have played soccer since they were in elementary school, and each has special memories made on the field.

Kylie Grompone, who plays left midfield, helped lead the Lady Cavos to a 13-6 season this year. She’s played soccer since she was five-years-old.

Grompone’s advice to young players: “Always try your hardest, and listen to your coach.”

If she could say something to her 10-year-old self, she would say, “… keep trying and you will get there.”

Ally Palladino, who plays says forward, has this advice: “Keep a positive mindset.”  She adds, “Consistently is key, and even when it becomes tough, don’t give up.”

Palladino shared a time in elementary when she was playing as goalie and got so bored, because her team was doing so well, that she started doing handstands and her coach yelled at her.

“It is really funny to think about now,” Palladino reminisced.

Ethan Amaral helped lead the boys’ team to a 10-7-2 record ths year. Amaral’s advice is to “practice a lot and never give up.”

Amaral’s best memory as a young playere was going undefeated for an entire soccer season.

Angel Ponce, also a senior captain, said he’ll miss his teammates who’ve become friends over the years.
