New movies are released almost every month, and one of the most talked-about films at Patrick M. Villano School this year is Wicked: For Good. The movie was released on November 21, 2025, and continues the story that began in Wicked.

According to some students who’ve seen both movies, the main difference between Wicked (Part 1) and Wicked: For Good (Part 2) is the story they tell. Wicked (Part 1) focuses on how Elphaba and Glinda meet at Shiz University and slowly become friends, even though they are very different. It also shows Elphaba discovering her powers. Wicked: For Good (Part 2) takes place later in the story and focuses more on emotions, choices, and consequences. Elphaba is called the “Wicked Witch,” and the movie shows how Oz turns against her.

One student fan said that Wicked (Part 1) had more upbeat songs and action scenes. She preferred the first movie because of the positive energy.

“I like Wicked (Part 1) a little bit better … It was way less mushy, and I like the singing better,” Vivian Sfarra, a fifth-grader, explained. “My favorite part of the movie in Part 1 was when they danced at the school when they first walked in, and my favorite part for Part 2 was probably when the Scarecrow and Elphaba walked off in the sand.”

Wicked: For Good (Part 2) talked about Elphaba being labeled the “Wicked Witch.” This was not as interesting as Wicked (Part 1), according to  Hannah Malec, a fifth-grader.

“I liked Wicked (Part 1) more because it was more exciting, and it had a lot of scenes and action. Wicked: For Good (Part 2) was very boring in my opinion, and it wasn’t really just for me,” Malec said.

Even though opinions differ about which movie is better, both Wicked films have made a strong impact on fans.
