Many students are familiar with the saying “six-seven.” It first became popular about a year ago and has been heard often at Patrick M. Villano School. As the new year continues, students shared their thoughts about the trend. Some students said it was funny at first but is now used a lot.
“I think six-seven used to be funny in the beginning, but now it’s kind of getting old,” said sixth grader Alex Rhee. “There have also been other numbers like forty-one, thirty-eight, and eighty-nine.”
The “6-7 trend” is a joke or meme where people react in a funny or dramatic way when they hear the numbers six and seven, especially when they are said together. It started online and spread through social media, videos, and songs, and then into schools.
“I think what’s going around in Emerson is a little too excessive because it upsets teachers when it’s overused in class,” Victor Santana, a sixth-grader, said. “Kids find it funny, but it’s not always the best thing to say.”
Other students shared different opinions about the trend.
“I believe it is overrated, and there is no need to obsess over it,” Joshua Choe, another sixth grader, said.
The saying “six-seven” continues to be talked about by students, and many have different thoughts about how often it is used at school.
