Keeping feet warm

When collecting items for those in need during the winter, many people think of coats or jackets. Warm socks, however, are just as important according to the Student Congress at Patrick M. Villano School. That’s why the group held a sock drive for the homeless earlier this month.

¨I think it’s good because the people who need socks get the socks, so it’s good for them,” Lincoln Bahng said.

Bahng is the Student Congress Treasurer. He was one of several Student Congress members who made a poster to help raise awareness about the drive. A collection box was placed outside of the main office at school. New, unworn socks were given to the Bergen County Housing Authority in Hackensack.

Arya Sontag, another Student Congress member, has a positive view of the sock drive.

“You can feel like you did a good deed, and it is like the most requested item, so they [people in need] can keep their feet warm and not get frostbite,” Sontag said.
