The second trimester closes this week on March 19, and students at Patrick M. Villano School will soon receive their grades. Report cards open on March 24. Parent teacher conferences start on Friday, March 20, with a half-day. As things wind down, some students and teachers are taking time to reflect on the end of this 61-day trimester and and think about what they hope to accomplish the rest of the school year. Arul Patel is a fourth grader who said he feels confident about his academics.
“Honestly, I think my grades are great!,” Patel said. “I’ve got a bunch of tests I’ve got 100% on. I hope I keep my grades up like this.”
Patel is looking forward to more success in the third and last trimester. He plans to use his academic victories in the future.
“I want to achieve being an entrepreneur, or a sports player, so I can lift up my family. It is my dream to make my family proud of what standards I could reach. Maybe as high as the sky,” Patel said.
In the final trimester, Patel plans to work on his coordination and temper.
“I could improve on my people skills,” he said.
Nathan Grompone, a fifth grader, reflected on his second trimester grades.
“I am very happy with how I did this trimester. I feel like my grades show all of my hard work and I can be proud of myself,” Grompone said.
He has some improvements in mind for the remainder of the school year.
“I want to get better at my reading stamina and read 45 minutes a day. I would like to do this because if I do this I will learn more words and be able to read longer books in a shorter amount of time,” Grompone said.
Aside from reading, Grompone has his sights set on writing.
“I would like to improve my grammar skills. I would like to improve on this because I am not always the best with my wording, spelling, or punctuation when I write.”
Megan Pritchard is the sixth grade Language Arts teacher. Pritchard said her students’ grades are reflective of their effort.
“I want my students to achieve grades that they’re proud of,” she said. “I would love it if everyone improved their independent reading. I love reading, so I want my students to feel the same way.”
In another 61 days, the third trimester will come to an end. Final report cards and summer vacation begins on the same day: June 24, 2026.
