Winds blow, snow falls, and temperatures drop. What do you think about these cold and snapping temperatures that we are experiencing through these past few weeks? Angelica Lang, a fifth-grader, thinks the weather is alright in general, but there are some things she doesn’t like.

“I kind of like the cold weather because I like playing in the snow. The snow is kind of refreshing,” Lang said. “The worst part about the cold weather is that I’m always stuck in my house. I just want to go to the mall.”

Lang added that while driving conditions are a concern, her family has a huge car that can handle the sometimes slippery roads. Amanda Binetti, school social worker, has a stronger opinion of the winter weather.

“I strongly dislike it. I do not like the winter,” Binetti said. “I hate that it makes me tired and less motivated to do things after school.”.

During a recent snowstorm, Binetti said she kept busy inside her home.

“I made chocolate chip cookies, shoveled, and I watched a lot of Netflix during the huge snowstorm,” Binetti said.

Owen Grompone, a fifth-grader, shares Binetti’s dislike of the cold.

“I think it’s very bad because I’ve been wanting to do some sports practices like soccer or baseball, but I can’t do that with all the snow,” Grompone said. “For some reason the snow is not melting, even though it doesn’t even feel cold anymore.”

Grompone said he hopes there’s some rain or heat in the forecast that will melt the snow. According to the National Weather Service online, Emerson will start the week of March 9 with unseasonably warm with sunshine and highs in the 70s. Temperatures will cool down mid-to-late week, with a chance of showers and breezy conditions heading into the weekend.
