Between 10 and 15 inches of snow fell in and around Emerson, NJ, last weekend according to the National Weather Service online. The snow started to fall in the area on Sunday, January 25. It snowed all day. Emerson Public Schools Acting Superintendent, Alice Opperman, announced on Sunday, January 25, that schools in the district would closed the next day.

Alexa Samuels, a fifth-grader, said she preferred the comfort of her home and family to the snow and winds outside.

“My day was very snowy, and I just kind of sat in my house all day and watched TV shows,” Samuels said.

Vivuan Sfarra, a fifth-grader, said she enjoyed the day off from school.

“I stayed in the comfort of my house and played outside,” Sfarra said.

Classes resumed for students on Tuesday, January 27.
