People woke up to a world turned white on December 14, 2025. Overnight, it snowed about four inches. Children in our area sledded, had snowball fights, and created snowmen. Riya Shah said she had a lot of winter fun.
“First of all, I love snow,” Shah, a fifth-grader, said. “It’s so cool! I get to build snowmen and make snow angels.”
Shah played with her brother and sister following the snowfall. They made snow angels, but Shah said she got very wet from laying in the snow. She tried to make a big snowman, but it turned out tiny.
“I want more snow because I want to build the world’s biggest snowman ever, and I want to make more snow angels,” she explained.
According to the Weather Channel online, the largest snowfall total was 8.6 inches in Howell Township, Monmouth County, NJ. That is about the height of a regular piece of lined writing paper. This snowfall happened over the weekend, so there were no snow days off from school in the area. Ian Joy, a fourth grader, enjoyed his time in the snow.
“I like snow,” Joy said. “My brother and I went outside, and we rolled up snowballs. After that, we went and made snow angels and went sledding.”
The hill by Memorial School on Haines Avenue in Emerson was a popular sledding spot as usual.
