When it comes to school snacks in the lunchroom, the fourth-graders know what they like.

I like Villano better because at Memorial the snacks were horrible,” Mairead Reynoso said. “I didn’t like it at all. Nobody liked it because there were vegetables and fruit there, and there were no Doritos, Oreos, munchkins or cookies every week. I love it here a lot more than Memorial.”

Mia Dillow, another fourth grader agreed. She’s a fan of the sweet and salty flavor.

“I like Villano’s snacks better because they have more options and more stuff that I like, and they have better choices instead of Memorial,” Dillow said.

Memorial School’s principal, Kristin Gagliano, explained that her lunchroom has many healthy snacks available at the “Farmstand”.  These are fruits and vegetables that rotate on a daily basis.  Students may find items such as apple slices, grapes, strawberries, cucumbers, or carrots.  Cookies are also sold once a week on Wednesdays.
“We use the same vendor at Villano School and follow the same nutritional guidelines,” Gagliano explained. “At Memorial School, there is a strong focus on healthy eating and healthy snacks available during our lunch time. Our “Farmstand” is very popular among our students, and the cookies offer an exciting treat each week.”
