It’s here! Major League Baseball is back. Opening day was March 28 or March 30, 2024 depending on the individual team’s schedule. Some students at Patrick M. Villano School, like fourth grader, Frankie Kozibroda, couldn’t be happier.

“My favorite baseball team is the Dodgers, and I really feel good about them because they’re doing a lot better this year, and they picked up a lot more players,” Kozibroda said.

He’ll be cheering for his favorite player, right fielder Mookie Betts while his classmate, Liam Martinez, will be rooting for the pinstripes.

“My favorite baseball team is the Yankees because I love Derek Jeter,” Martinez said.

Fellow fourth grader, Alexa Palko, will also be cheering for the Yankees.

“ I think they have a lot of good players and pitchers,” Palko said. “My favorite player is Aaron Judge because I feel like when he’s playing, he has a lot of like power in what he’s doing, and he’s he shows a lot of respect for his team, and he hits a lot of home runs.”

Palko has high hopes for her Yankees winning the World Series this year.

“I think they have possibly a good shot this year,” she said.
