Singing for seniors

An eager audience at the Emerson Senior Center awaited the elementary chorus from Patrick M. Villano School. Students arrived to spread holiday cheer. The sixth graders had performed for the seniors before, but it was the first time for the fifth graders.

“At first I was kind of nervous because I had never done something like that, but during it I had a lot of fun. I hope all of the seniors enjoyed it, and I think they did,” Violet Eckert, a fifth-grade student, said.

The chorus sang a variety of songs including “Holiday Lights,” “First Flakes” and “Holly Jolly Christmas”.  It was very noticeable that the audience was excited and enjoyed the show. Some people even participated and sang along.

Fifth grader Lily Polvere had a different perspective and feeling about the performance.

“Performing for the senior center made me happy to see all of their smiles and also made me feel more confident in order to do the winter concert”.

The school’s winter concert was held later that evening at the Emerson Junior-Senior High School.
