If you’re a New York Mets fan, September 28, 2025, was not a good day. That’s the day the Miami Marlins eliminated the Mets from playoff contention in a 4-0 shutout. Miami bested the Mets two games to one in the three game series. This got a few local baseball fans at Patrick M. Villano School wondering, which team is truly better?
Milan Chawla, a fifth grade student, is a Mets fan.
“The entire batting order is capable of hitting home runs,” Chawla said. He admits the team needs work, however. “Our pitching is bad, they just need better pitchers.”
Chawla is looking ahead to 2030 for a Mets championship. “No doubt about it,” Chawla said enthusiastically.
Jimmy Maginnis, also a fifth grade student, agreed with Chawla about the year but not the team. “I think they [the Marlins] will win in 2030,” he said.
Maginnis, a baseball player and baseball fan, said he’s happy with Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara. He thinks the pitching staff on the Mets, including Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor, and Juan Soto, just don’t compare.
