The Villano View is up and running for the 2025-2026 school year. There are 26 students from fifth and sixth grade who joined this year. They’re most excited about interviewing and writing. One of those students is fifth grader, Kristi Allen.

“I like writing, and I like Mrs. Catuogno. She’s nice,” Allen said. “I like writing in detail. I want the world to see my pieces of writing. I like watching the news and figuring out what happens in the news.”

Students in The Villano View write news articles and take photos. The online newspaper is in its ninth year at Patrick M. Villano School in Emerson, NJ. A handful of reporters, now in sixth grade, returned for their second year on the staff. For sixth grader Ethan Lantigua, it’s his first year with the newspaper club.

“Everybody was basically hyping up the club … and how fun it would be, and I decided to get into that,” Lantigua said.

Aside from writing about current events, club members are looking forward to selling holiday evergreens. It’s the club’s big fundraiser and pays for its team building trip to the trampoline park, Skyzone in Allendale, as well as club shirts.
