Every year, the students in fifth grade participate in the TREP$ program. It’s a special program where students design a product, advertise, then sell it to others at Patrick M. Villano School’s marketplace.  This year, TREP$ will be on June 4 in the school’s all-purpose room.

Joey Ligouri, a 5th grader, is looking forward to selling a liquid mixture that cleans scruff marks from sneakers.

“My thoughts about TREP$ are really exciting and to be making money in school,” Ligouri said. “I feel more excited than nervous, but I’ll feel nervous if I don’t sell any of my products.”

TREP$ is short for entrepreneurs who are people who start their own business. Other students are making bracelets, slime, or stress balls, while a few are making their own designs.

Chloe Sinisi, an 8th grader, remembers making bird houses from wood and glue.

“My favorite part was making my product,” Sinisi said. “When I sold my product, I felt good and made money.”

Parents provide students with a $35 budget , and students are allowed to keep their profit.
