Mufasa, the new Disney movie to hit the theaters, is a prequel story to the well-known movie The Lion King. It’s focused the journey of Simba’s father, Mufasa, on his way to find a safe place to live. It’s live-action rather than a cartoon, and it”s filled with exciting adventures.
Sophia Barragan-Gonzalez, a sixth grader, saw the movie recently. One part of the movie stands out in her mind.
“When Taka grabbed Mufasa’s hand when he was falling into the water,” Barragan-Gonzalez said.
Barragan-Gonzalez’s favorite song was “I Always Wanted a Brother” because she liked the melody. Mufasa is a musical movie, like The Lion King before it, and offers a variety of new songs. According to the Disney website, the movie is “featuring songs by award-winning songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda and original score by Dave Metzger.”
Six-year-old Catherine Barbiero saw the movie with a group of friends. When asked what her favorite part was, she answered: “When they got to where they were going. It was a fun journey. I liked seeing them run, and I liked how they covered their tracks.”
Acacia Fang, a sixth grader, rated the movie a nine out of ten stars for its realistic plot.
“It’s like that. Some people you really trust can be bad guys. It was really surprising to see Taka was Scar,” Fang said.
The cast of actors is different than that of The Lion King. Aaron Pierre played Mufasa, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. was his brother Taka/Scar.
This movie is rated PG and has a full runtime of 1 hour and 58 minutes.
