On March 15, 2025, the Emerson Eagles 2012-2013 Girls soccer team had an opportunity to play at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the home of the New York Giants and New York Jets. They competed against Mahwah in a scrimmage. Player 14, Jackie Giella, enjoyed the game.

“It was a fun experience,” Giella stated. “I would like to play at MetLife again, and my favorite part of the game was playing.”

The Eagles played at 10:50 a.m., and the 50-minute game ended in a 2-2 tie. They played without a half-time. All of the team members on the Eagles loved the experience at MetLife.

Lily Polvere, a player on the Emerson Eagles said, “I would love to play again. My favorite part of the game was when we would all run off and tell everyone to get off.”

Jonathan Gray, the head coach of the Eagles, was very thankful for the opportunity.

“I liked the fact that we were invited to play where professionals get to play, and all of the players and the coaches will be able to say that we played in the same stadium where the world cup will be held,” Gray explained. “I’m very proud of this team that’s been playing together for five to six years, and they’re a lot of fun to coach.”

The U.S, Mexico, and Canada will be the host countries for World Cup 2026. MetLife Stadium will be hosting many of the games, including the FIFA World Cup final.
