As part of the annual March Madness food drive and spirit week at Patrick M. Villano School, teachers took on students in a basketball game. The game happened on March 27 at Emerson Junior Senior High School.

“It was very fun, and it was very intense because it was a competition,” Isaac Berens, a sixth-grade player, said.

Teachers won with a final score of 43 – 28. All students had an opportunity to participate in the game day if they chose to do so. Some students were players while other were coaches. A few participated in a half court shot competition or ran the electronic scoreboard.

“The basketball game was very fun to watch,” Alex Rhee, a sixth-grader, said. “It was fun to watch the students versus teacher match because it was fun watching the competition and rooting for the students.”

There were three quarters of play. In the first quarter, fourth grade students played against the teachers. In the second quarter, fifth graders played, and in the last quarter, the sixth grade students took the court.
