Luke Timmerman, a fifth-grader at Patrick M. Villano School, loves football. He’s played since kindergarten. Due to low numbers, the junior team from Emerson and the junior team from Park Ridge merged when Timmerman was in first grade. Now in fifth grade, he’s a running back with high hopes for the co-op season.

“I hope in this season to score five or more touchdowns, and if I can’t I will try harder next season. I wish to keep playing football my whole life and to hopefully make it to the NFL when I’m older.”

Will Gibbons, another fifth-grader, has played football for three years. He’s Timmerman’s teammate and also a running back.

“I want to get better at swing passes, and I hope to get the skill  next week by practicing,” Gibbons said. “I don’t think I will play football my whole life but some of it I will.”

Joey Liguori has been playing for four years. The fifth-grader is the junior team’s center.

“This season I want to make a bunch of tackles and lay a bunch of kids out. I hope to keep playing football my whole life, but I might not be able to in college, but I will try,” Liguori said.
