The band at Patrick M. Villano School has two new instruments for its symphonic band: the violin and the piano. Sixth-grader Noah Justo put his shyness aside and is now excited to me a member of the symphonic band.

I joined the band because my mom convinced me and she also inspired me,” Justo said. “She decided to tell me that it was an opportunity to learn something new, so I decided to give in and join.”

Justo chose a brass intrument to play.

“I decided to play the trumpet also because I barely even knew much of the instruments, so I decided to go for a simple choice.”

The symphonic and concert bands are for students with some musical experience. Everyone seems ready for the stage this year, including the new fourth graders. They’ll be in the beginner band which is for first-time learners. That includes fourth grader Francesca Santillo.

“I decided to join the band because I thought it would be a great opportunity and I would like the band,” Santillo said. “I chose the clarinet because I thought I would like it, and my dad played the clarinet, so I thought maybe he could help me a little bit.”
