AI, or Artificial Intelligence, is the science of making machines that can think and learn like humans. It’s come a long way since 1935. According to Britannica online, that’s when a computer scientist names Alan Turing from Britian first talked about a computer with a “limitless memory”. Later in his career, Turing talked about a machine that “can learn from experience.”
AI can be found today in voice helpers like Siri and Alexa to self-driving cars like Teslas. AI is used by Google for language translation. According to the National Institutes for Health online, AI may be useful in helping doctors predict some kinds of cancer in patients.
“AI can be good when you don’t know the answer to something,” Alex Lang, a fifth-grader, said.
AI is also used by designers to create images or music. According to a report last year from KPMG, an international audit company, 39 perent of people polled trust AI. There’s some concern that this technology may replace humans in the workforce.
This topic was posed to a chatbot. A chatbot is a computer program that uses AI to simulate human converstion.
“Do you think AI is going to take over the world?”
“No that’s only in movies. AI needs humans to control.”
