On the fourth Thursday of every November, the holiday of Thanksgiving is celebrated in the U.S. It’s a national holiday that honors the early settlers and the Native Americans who gathered for a feast. Many people today enjoy what they are thankful for on this date whether it’s friends, family or food. What’s the favorite reasons students at Patrick M. Villano School like Thanksgiving?

“Because, I get to see my family,” Maia Congiusti, a fifth-grader, said.

Fellow fifth-grader, Leo Fernandez Pineiro, agrees about enjoying spending time with family.

“I play games with my family,” Pineiro answered.

Another reason students like Thanksgiving is for its traditional foods. Anessa Matthew, another fifth-grader, shared her favorite food.

“Mashed potatoes because of its soft and creamy flavor,” Matthew stated.

“Turkey, because it’s the main meal,” Congiusti said.

Pinerio said, “Soup because it’s tasty and yummy.”
