It’s not even Halloween yet, and reporters for The Villano View are now selling winter wreaths.
“I don’t mind buying a wreath so early, but I do find it odd why the club is selling them this early,” Michelle Feeley, a customer said. “Once the wreath arrives, I will hang it up to perfectly start the festive look in the town.”
The wreaths are sold by newspaper club members. They ask friends and family they know to purchase one for $30. All sales are done online. The wreaths are 22-inches wide and come with a velvet bow. The sale ends on October 27. At that time, students hand club adviser, April Catougno, their order list. She sends it to the wreath company based in Minnesota. Then, the company gets the order ready for shipment.
“We are ready and excited to start our annual fundraiser,” Catuogno said. “It is our one and only fundraiser of the year, and all the proceeds go right back to our amazing students.”
Catuogno said the wreaths are durable. They’ll resist the cold nature of the wind and will look beautiful outside of a house. Dozens of boxes are expected to arrive on a huge 18-wheeler truck right to Patrick M. Villano School. Students will pick up their orders outside Room 105.
“The wreaths will arrive mid-November. You’ll smell the fragrant pine branches outside my homeroom,” Catuogno said. “Reporters will pick up their orders from me, then deliver to the local friends and family members whore kind enough to support us.”
