Although an ocean away, Manchester City of England is a popular soccer team right here in Emerson, New Jersey. Manchester City has won nine league titles, seven Football Association Challenge Cups (FA Cups), eight League Cups, six FA Community Shields, one UEFA Champions League, one European Cup Winners’ Cup, and one UEFA Super Cup. They won the Premier League last year and are currently 9-0-2 in this season.
“Manchester city is a really good team,” Luca Carvalho, a fifth-grader at Patrick M. Villano School, said. “The wingers and the forwards are really strong,”
Manchester City has talent with players Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish and Ederson. Manchester City has some new players including Oscar Bobb and Matheus Nunes.
Christian Velez, a sixth-grader, is also a fan.
“Manchester City is a strong team that has great soccer players and good role models for other soccer players that are still learning the game,” Velez said.
Manchester City players wear many different uniforms. One color uniform is sky blue. Another uniform is red and black.
