Many of Patrick M. Villano School’s new fourth graders seem to like their new learning location.
“I think it’s definitely different from Memorial School, like a good difference, and, it’s like, really big, definitely, and there’s different floors,” Alexa Palko said. She is a member of April Catuogno’s fourth grade class.
Villano School serves students in grades four through six while Memorial School located in a different part of Emerson serves students in Pre-K to third grade. Palko said Villano School is bigger and more spacious than Memorial School.
Abby Ellis, another fourth grade student, named her teacher, Cindy Doran, as one reason she likes Villano School.
“Yes, because she has a great personality, and she’s really nice,” Ellis explained.
Doran also runs a book club open to fourth, fifth and sixth graders. Demi Paradis, a fourth grader in Trish Mancino and Sherry Robson’s class, spoke out about school lunch being better at Villano School.
“Definitely,” Paradis said.
Villano School serves a variety of food on different days, and Paradis buys the school lunch on Fridays which is known as Pizza Day. The long lunch line in the all-purpose room on Fridays proves fourth graders like Pizza Day. Being in the school band is another reason fourth graders are enjoying Villano School. Luke Verrico from Kristin Vitale’s homeroom said he enjoys having his own instrument.
“The trumpet, and I like it a lot,” Verrico said.
Verrico enjoys playing with his fellow trumpet players and bandmates. Joe Gibbs is the band teacher this year.
Most fourth graders seem to be enjoying their new experiences.
