The game of football was first played on November 6, 1869, in Canton, Ohio, according to the History Channel online. About 150 years later, the New York Jets took on the Kansas City Chiefs at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Like many families before last weekend’s game, fourth grader Alexa Palko was tailgating near the entrance to the stadium.
“I like the New York Jets better than the Chiefs, but I thought the Kansas City Chiefs were going to win because they are better, but the best part was playing football in the parking lot with everyone,” Palko said.
Others who watch the game in person and go crazy for their favorite team, just like fourth grader James Sweeny.
“My favorite team is the New York Jets, but I thought that the Chiefs were gonna win because of the Patrick Mahomes – Travis Kelce duo,” Sweeny said. “I thought the best part of the game was when the Jets got a bunch of interceptions, even though they still lost by a field goal.”
Some people don’t go to the games, but choose to watch from home on their own television screen just like 5th grader Tyler Trass. He knew the Chiefs would win.
“I like the Chiefs because I like Patrick Mahomes,” Trass stated. “I’d say that the best part was when the Chiefs took a 10 point lead!”
It was a close game, and the home team New York Jets only lost by a three-point field goal. The final score was 23 – 20. They were very close but they just couldn’t edge out the Kansas City Chiefs for a win.
