The Villano View had a turnout of 31 students from grades 5 and 6 at its first meeting. The meeting took place in Mrs. April Catuogno’s room after school on September 22, 2023.
“The reason I chose to do The Villano View this year is because I love writing, and I’ve always wanted to know what being a journalist is like,” Samanya Panda, a fifth-grader said.
Students in The Villano View learn how to write stories, take pictures and keep up with the events happening in the school. It’s an online newspaper for Patrick M. Villano School in Emerson, NJ.
“I think it’s exciting being able to be a part of a school newspaper where you can show your ideas, and it’s fun to treat yourself for working on your writing with a field trip,” Gabby Khiami, a sixth grader, said.
Khiami is referring to the annual club field trip to High Exposure. The club members earn the money for the trip by selling holiday wreaths. The wreath profits also pay for club shirts.
“I think that I am really going to enjoy The Villano View because I love writing and newspapers,” Norah Smith, a fifth grader, said.
