These sixth graders pass a wet sponge down a line. This is one event expected at this year’s Field Day.

Patrick M. Villano School is gearing up for its annual Field Day. This event is held for the 3th to 6th graders. Events include a dunk tank, obstacle course, and water balloons tosses. The scheduled date is May 20, 2022 with a rain date of May 26, 2022. Field Day is an all day event which will start at 9 a.m. and will end in time for dismissal.

“I enjoy Field Day because I think it’s really fun for the students to just have a day of dedicated to having fun with your classmates and enjoying sports,” Maeve Gagliardo, a fifth grader said.

Field day is a day of celebration of students’ physical and health accomplishments. The school comes together and competes in different games while illustrating great sportsmanship and athleticism.

“I think Field Day is fun because you complete in games against your friends,” Elizabeth Mrkic, another fifth grader said. “The water stations make me feel happy because you get sprayed with water by your friends.”

This year the tradition of a T-shirt logo contest continued. Fifth grader Parker Pratt illustrated the winning logo. T-shirts can be purchased online. Overall, students agree that Field Day allows everyone to exercise while having fun.
