“Becoming a physical education teacher at Patrick M. Villano School was the perfect location for me to teach and mold the young student-athletes of our future and I’m so lucky to have found such a wonderful place,” Franklin Tiburcio said.

Tiburcio is called Mr. T. by his students. He’s been a physical education teacher in Emerson’s elementary schools for 10 years, and he loves it.

“As I was applying for different jobs and I saw an opportunity to work in Emerson public schools, it was an opportunity I could not let go and I am so happy that I was able to get a job at this school,” Tiburcio explained.

Many students enjoy the games Tiburcio organized in class. Fifth-grader Connor Terzian thinks that the foxtails game is really fun because the game has infinite outcomes. In the game, players takes turns slamming a ball so it bounces high in the air. Then, before the ball bounces again, another player must catch it and bounce it back.
