Students and teachers alike enjoy celebrating Valentine’s Day.

The fourteenth of February is a popular day of the year. Many loved ones exchange gifts with one another to celebrate the holiday. Several students at Patrick M. Villano School look forward to the day.

“My opinion on Valentine’s Day is it is a sweet holiday and a day to be loved,” Christine Kennedy said.

The fifth grader spends the day with family.

“What Valentine’s day means to me is a day filled with a lot of love and chocolate,” Kennedy added.

Another fifth grader, Maura Mathews, calls February 14 fun.

“What Valentine’s Day means to me is a fun day where you get to appreciate who you love.  I spend my Valentine’s Day with my family including my dog,” Mathews explained.

Fourth grader Kristian Waples enjoys Valentine’s Day.

“My opinion of Valentine’s day is a day to spread love and joy throughout the day even though that should be how every day is spent,” Waples said. “Valentine’s Day to me means a day to love and hang out with your family and to give gifts to show how much you care for them.”

Some teachers also enjoy the holiday and have traditions to celebrate each year. Fifth grade teacher. Kate Gallucci is one of them.

“Sometimes we go out to dinner,” Gallucci states, “and sometimes we celebrate by not cooking and ordering dinner and bringing it home. We make a special dessert and exchange little things.”

Fellow fifth-grade teacher Kim Biggs also has a special family holiday tradition.

“Typically, we will order from a favorite restaurant or cook a favorite meal altogether,” Biggs states. “All of the members of my family like to write each other handwritten notes to express how much we care for one another. We also give each other tiny treats like chocolates or candies.”
