This year is almost over. While some people are not looking forward to that, others can’t wait for 2020 to end.

Xavier Habana, a fifth-grade student at Patrick M. Villano Elementary school, has some optimistic feelings about the new year.

“I am looking forward to the new year because I am ready for a brand new start and we get to restart,” Habana said. “I am just looking forward to 2021!”

Habana hopes to go back to in-class learning this January.

“I am most hoping to be able to go back to school, still with safety precautions, but also I want to go back to playing sports,” he said.

Giovanni Solimando is another fifth-grader at Patrick M. Villano Elementary. He loves his normal life.

“I am extremely looking forward to a normal life again!” said Solimando. “I am looking forward to going on a vacation in 2021.”

Solimando wants to be positive and stay optimistic about the new year.

“I am trying to stay positive about the new year, and I think that it will be great and I am hoping that this virus will be over soon,” he said.

Ava Criscola is also looking forward to the new year. She is also a fifth-grade student at Patrick M. Villano Elementary school.

“My opinion on the New Year is that I hope Coronavirus is not here, and I also hope that 2021 will be way better than 2020,” Criscola said. “I honestly do not care 2020 is almost over because it has just been super challenging and a very unpleasant year.”

Criscola is wishing for 2021 to come quicker.

“I am looking forward to 2021. Hopefully, everything will clear up, and I am relieved that the worst year is almost over,” Crisola added.

Lastly, Emilia Kapuscinski has strong feelings about 2021. This last fifth-grader at Patrick M. Villano Elementary wants to travel again.

“I am looking forward to 2021,” said Kapuscinski. “I extremely want to go to Poland to see my cousins and grandparents. I am also hoping to go to Warsaw and Krakow as well as different cities in Europe.”

Kapuscinski wishes for Coronavirus to stop spreading in 2021.

“I wish that Coronavirus will stop spreading in 2021 and everything will go back to normal. I also wish that we would go back to school, so I can see all of my friends,” she explained.

Kapuscinski, like many other fifth graders, hopes 2021 is a better year.
