Nick Milo and a friend from Troop 80 in Park Ridge are excited to spend spring break at Great Adventure. Boy Scout troops from Emerson and Park Ridge visited the amusement park during the day and camped out near the park at night.

Roller coasters and camp fires made for a very interesting spring break for some local Boy Scouts. Troop 67 from Emerson and Troop 80 from Park Ridge combined for a visit to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. Nick Milo, a fifth-grade student from Patrick M. Villano School, attended. His favorite activity was riding all the coasters.

“Skull Mountain is a roller coaster. It starts pitch black, then you get to the top, and dive down. It swirls around and around,” Milo said.

During the day, the scouts hit the park and all its roller coasters. There were also bumper cars and games of chance. At night, the scouts camped behind the adventure park in a wooded area of The Pine Barrens. That’s a part of western New Jersey with a lot of trees. The scouts pitched a tent, built a campfire and roasted marshmallows. The scouts also played manhunt.

“Going out in nature and having fun with my friends was great,” Milo explained.

Natalie Rehak, a science teacher from Emerson Junior-Senior High School, attended the campout with one of her sons, Dean. He is a Boy Scout from Park Ridge.
