Catch me if you can!

Fourth graders are getting ready to catch some sneaky little leprechauns in Patrick M. Villano School. The grade-wide event will take place this Friday, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day which falls on Saturday, March 17, this year. The students will create leprechaun traps using household items, then set the traps in the Learning Lab as part of a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) project. Their teachers have a surprise material that must be included in each student’s trap.
“I am very excited and I have very high hopes my plan could work,” fourth grader Mikaela Tucker said.
“I am half excited because I don’t think my plan will work, but you never know,” fourth grader Michael DeOrio said.
The hope is that at least one student will make a witty trap to actually capture a leprechaun. Students will check the traps after the holiday weekend on Monday, March 19.
“I am very excited because I have a great plan that can’t fail,” fourth grader Mason Marck said.
“I am so excited to build my leprechaun trap because it’s going to be unique,” fourth grader Alexandra Palladino said.
