A carnival was held at the Assumption Church in Emerson from May 17 to May 21 in order to raise money. The carnival included rides for all ages. For younger ones, there was a fun slide and a mini boat ride. For older people, there was the Hurricane and Bear Affair.

“My favorite rides in the Carnival were the ones in the back for the older kids. The Hurricane was my absolute favorite!”Jelitza Garcia-Cortes, a fifth-grader, said.

“My favorite ride at the carnival was the para-shooter. I hung my head down because I was so nervous,” Nate Piccinich, a fifth-grader, said.

The para-shooter is a fast, stomach-lurching ride like a Ferris wheel but faster and more fun. It is tilted sideways. It has the tallest height requirement out of all the rides in the carnival because of its speed. The carnival also included prize-winning midway games, including a water-shooting game.

“My favorite part of the carnival was the nachos I ate. They were delicious!” Cooper Sfarra, a sixth-grader, said.

A handful of food trucks at the carnival sold items from churros to French fries and fried Oreos to snow cones.
