Brooklyn Nets on a winning streak

The Brooklyn Nets are currently one of the most talented teams in the NBA. They’re on a 12 game winning streak and are a fan favorite among some students at Patrick M. Villano School.

“I think the Brooklyn Nets are a great team,” Charlie Spiegel, a sixth-grader said. “They’re second in the league, and probably my favorite team. I really like KD [Kevin Duarnt].”

The top player on the Nets is Kevin Durant, nicknamed KD. He has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Golden State Warriors, and currently, the Nets. Kyrie Irving is also a star player on the Nets, and he has played on the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, and now, the Nets.

Currently, the Brooklyn Nets stand second in the league behind the Boston Celtics. The team began the season losing seven of their first ten games. On December 17, 2022, the Brooklyn Nets played the Charlotte Hornets, beating them 122 – 116, starting a winning streak.

“I am glad that the Nets made a comeback from their losing streak,” Billy Trimble, a sixth-grader, said.

On December 21, 2022, something incredible happened. The Nets played the Golden State Warriors. The Warrior’s star player, Steph Curry, was out after an injury. The Warriors put up a fight, but it didn’t even come close to being a contest. The game was a total blowout with a final score of 143 – 113. The Brooklyn Nets had 91 points in the first half, an incredible stat. Kevin Durant had 23 points and 7 rebounds at the final buzzer. The Nets also were even missing a key player in this game, Kyrie Irving.

“I’m very happy because I am a huge Nets fan, and they are doing great. I used to live in NY, which is a reason while I love the Nets,” Ethan Shelton, a sixth-grader, shared.
