NBA games, especially the finals such as this 2012 match up between the Oklahoma City Thunder vs the Miami Heat, are well attended by fans.

Basketball fans at Patrick M. Villano School are stoked for the start of the NBA season. Aiden Kapadia is one of them.

“It’s been decent. I’m excited to see how it will end up,” Kapadia said. Kapadia is a sixth-grader who started watching NBA games at the start of the season on October 18.

The closest teams to Emerson, New Jersey, are the Knicks and Nets which are both located in New York City. Those two teams are fan-favorites among students.

Currently, the Milwaukee Bucks have the best record in the Eastern Conference. In the Western Conference, the Phoenix Suns have the best record. Last year, the great Golden State Warriors won the NBA championship. Basketball legend Steph Curry earned the finals MVP. Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets won overall MVP last season. This year, the title is up for grabs.

“It’s been a tough race for Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks) and Giannis Antetokoumpo (Milwaukee Bucks)  for MVP,” Ethan Shelton, a sixth-grade student, said.

There have been very talented rookies drafted this year. The first overall pick of the 2022 NBA draft was 19-year-old Paolo Banchero. One of the best recruits of the draft was 7-foot, one-inch all around player Chet Holmgren. Unfortunately, Holmgren got injured in the NBA preseason playing against NBA legend LeBron James. Holmgren will be out for his first NBA season.
