No classroom, no problem

Paige Aquila is making the most of her virtual learning experience.

“Right now, I am working on the couch. I have just finished math, my second class for the day,” Aquila said. “I am happy that virtual learning is going so well.”

Aquila is one of about 300 students at Patrick M. Villano School who is learning from home since the coronavirus outbreak closed school doors. The fifth grade student said she completes her work each day without any problems.

“Students will be assigned approximately three hours of work daily across all content areas including special areas depending on current cycle. Some assignments may be long-term, yet there will be daily checkpoints for such assignments,” according to the distance learning guidelines published to the school’s website.

Since March 16, students in the Emerson Public School district have been using the Google platform for virtual instruction.
