The NFL has 32 teams: 16 are in the NFC, and 16 in the AFC. Those 16 teams are further split into four groups with four teams in each group. Every team has 16 games and one rest week.

The San Francisco 49’ers and the Kansas City Chiefs are officially in the Super Bowl. Who will win? Students at Patrick M. Villano Elementary School have mixed opinions.

“I think the 49’ers are going to win because they have been doing pretty good,” sixth-grader Martin Travers said.

I think the Chiefs because my dad is rooting for them,” fifth-grader Mia Woodward said. “I usually root for the teams that my dad chooses.”

“I think the 49’ers because they are a good team,” fifth-grader Patrick McNamara said.

The Super Bowl is the football Championship for the National Football League (NFL). In it, the best team from the AFC (American Football Conference) and the NFC (National Football Conference) face off in the big game. To get to the playoffs, teams need to either win their conference or be a wild card team. The two teams that survive the first two rounds meet to play for the conference championship. The team with the highest seed plays on their home field. The conference champions of the AFC and NFC advances to the Super Bowl. After the long game, the score was 49’ers 20 and Chiefs 31.
