Sixth graders attend a movie at the theater in Westwood, NJ, as their final D.A.R.E. activity. Each students is wearing a special D.A.R.E. t-shirt.

Sixth grade students at Patrick M. Villano School just completed their D.A.R.E. coursework. D.A.R.E. is a Drug Abuse Resistance Program run by the Emerson Police Department. Officers Randy Velez and Glenn Howard teach students how to making positive life choices. Some lesson topics include avoiding peer pressure, being an upstander and rejecting drugs and alcohol. Every sixth grade student participates in the D.A.R.E. program. At the end of the D.A.R.E. program, students write a five-paragraph essay on what they learned. A handful of students are chosen by the officers to present those reports at the promotion ceremony in June. As a wrap-up activity, the entire grade attends a movie outing at the Westwood Theater in June wearing  special D.A.R.E. t-shirt. This year, students saw Show Dogs.
