Gods and goddesses on social media

January 24, 2019

If you were Zeus or Poseidon or Hades, what would you post on your social media account? That was the question posed to sixth grade Language Arts students in April Catuogno and Brianna Peros’ classes. After reading a handful of Greek myths, students pretended to host Instagram, Snapchat or You Tube accounts on behalf of one famous gods or goddesses.

“I liked how I could draw someone else’s perspective because I am a good artist,” Olivia Karathomas said.

Most sixth graders said they enjoyed the creative part of the project. They also liked being able to choose their own social media platform. Students completed most of the work in class within a week. Teachers gave Instagram and Twitter templates to students, but others designed their own look for Snapchat and YouTube accounts.

I like how you interviewed someone who did the project. It really made your article pop.
