Unexpected honor for third grader

Marcos Garcia-Montes never thought he would win the Citizen of the Month award. His third grade teachers thought otherwise.
Marcos Garcia-Montes didn’t expect the award at all.
“I thought I would never win,” Garcia-Montes said.
The third-grade student from Patrick M. Villano School didn’t think he would win Citizen of the Month for his grade in January, but he did.
“I felt happy but nervous at the same time,” Garcia -Montes said after he recevied the award.
His teachers said that small acts of kindness every day toward his peers earned Garcia-Montes the award. He was happy to win and proud of himself for doign so.
