Third grader’s hobby turns into honor

Daniel Acosta created this sketch of Patrick M. Villano School on his i-Pad. His entry won the third grade level of the recent Student Congress art contest.

Third grade student Daniel Acosta started drawing in first grade. Right now, drawing is just a hobby, but Acosta can see himself working in a field that has something to do with drawing. He recently won an art contest sponsored by the school’s Student Congress. His drawing was an outside picture of Patrick M. Villano School which Acosta created on his i-Pad.

Q: How did you feel when you learned you won the art contest award for your grade level?

A:  I was shocked and was not expecting that.

Q: What is one of  your favorite drawings that you have made?

A: The one that I entered for the art contest.

Q: Why did you enter the art contest?

A: I just wanted to do it for fun!

Q: In what styles do you draw?

A: Cartoons and some rough sketches.

Q: What are your favorite things to draw?

A: People, buildings, animals and comics.

Q: What is your favorite part about drawing?

A: You can do anything when you draw.
